Grade 7: Salary in the range £31,076 - £32,004 p.a.
The School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies seeks applications from candidates for a fixed-term postdoctoral position, to work on the Leverhulme Trust funded project ‘Circuits of waste and value: making e-waste subjects in China and Japan’ for 12 months. The appointee will work as part of a small team of postdoctoral researchers reporting to the Principal Investigator, Dr Anna Lora-Wainwright.
The postdoctoral researcher will address the aims of this research project by conducting research (including review of relevant policies, interviews and ethnographic fieldwork) on the trading and processing of electronic waste in China. They will work in collaboration with the PI to expand her existing research in China but also work independently to develop his or her own sub-project. They will present their research findings in appropriate forums including international academic conferences and workshops as well as collaborate in the preparation of research publications, and book chapters.
You will have a doctorate in a relevant field, or evidence that a doctorate is imminently expected; and research interests on waste or related topics. The successful candidate will demonstrate: fluency in Mandarin Chinese; relevant experience and ability to undertake multi-sited fieldwork in China; specialist knowledge in the relevant disciplines and themes to work within established research programmes; excellent communication skills and the ability to manage your own academic research.
The post is based at the University of Oxford China Centre, Canterbury Road, Oxford.
