Being raised in a multicultural environment initiated a natural inclination towards cross-cultural comparison at micro-level. This distinctiveness triggered both my professional and intellectual endeavors in Hong Kong and China.
My intellectual interests have intersected Business Technology and Strategic Management. Having studied at Peking University and working at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Guangzhou allowed me to gain a better understanding of China. In particular, this experience has helped me attain a greater appreciation for policy-making in this globalised era.
This has led me to apply for the MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies to gain an interdisciplinary understanding of China, while building on my previous experiences. The course has allowed me to tailor the options courses and dissertation to my areas of interest, enabling me to focus on Chinese innovation-led growth and multinational firms.
Furthermore, the people in this course all come from various backgrounds, which provides a unique learning experience. Only a few universities in the world can offer such a dynamic environment. The knowledge, skills and connections made during this year will be valuable for the rest of my life. The newly launched course alumni network, Oxford Sino Alliance, creates a platform to connect and share ideas extending beyond the course.
