I am Kefan, a DPhil candidate in Area Studies (China) at the University of Oxford. Before my DPhil studies, I obtained an MPhil in Educational Research from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Education from the University of Warwick.
I volunteered in many marginalised areas in China, Indonesia and African countries. These experiences facilitated my research interests in Childhood, Family, Health and Informal Caregiving, and Gender. My DPhil thesis explores the lives and experiences of young carers in China, focusing on adolescents who provide long-term informal caregiving to other family members who have chronic illnesses and disability. While contributing to the scarce literature on this topic, I hope this study can provide factual data and implications for researchers, professionals, and policymakers to transform the lives of this hidden group and their families.
Broadly, I have experience working as an assistant in teaching research methods at Oxford, and my previous works have been published in Sex Education and other journals.
