After three years of work and language study in China, I was looking for a programme that would allow me to bring these practical experiences together with my prior training in International Relations and Law. The MSc in Modern Chinese Studies was perfect for this. Not only were courses taught by leading scholars of their respective fields, the wide range of option papers allowed me to look at Chinese politics from domestic, international and – in the case of my dissertation – linguistic perspectives. I was recently granted a full PhD scholarship by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and will continue studying China’s political developments at Freie Universität Berlin.
