Coming to Oxford and studying the MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies was probably the most intellectually challenging and inspiring journey of my life thus far. I am very grateful for the experiences, the teaching and the community I got to enjoy during my time in and around the Oxford China Centre.
Having lived in Taiwan for 2 years prior to university and academically coming from business background, I was looking for a program that would feed my intellectual curiosity of China and complement my former studies with an interdisciplinary lens.
The introductory course offered insights into the vast interdisciplinary issues and complexities of Contemporary China. The option courses such as the International Relations of China and my own dissertation on Chinese OFDI into family owned firms in Europe, allowed for specialization based on academic background and personal interest. Furthermore, the cosmopolitan outlook of the China program, the conceptual and analytic thinking and the academic rigor we were taught definitely prepared me to strive in any business environment.
After Oxford I went into strategy consulting at Strategy& serving clients in Germany, Australia and Switzerland. Most recently I moved into digital company building at a small firm in Berlin.
