I applied for the MSc in Modern Chinese Studies because I was looking for a course of an interdisciplinary nature-- which would expand my horizons, yet allow me to build on my previous area of expertise (history).
It was also due in no small part to the prestige of Oxford University, with its first-class facilities, teachers, and students. Indeed, my Oxford experience has been a fulfilling one in many respects, especially the friendships forged and the opportunities for enrichment, not to mention my first visit to archives in both the UK and mainland China.
